Things Are Going Well...

Heard from my sister today.

She asked me to send electronic version of my meds spreadsheet along to her so she can update as needed.  While I had her attention, I asked how things are.

Besides the few silly comments, she said things are going well.

It's only been 3 days... things still have time to start going awry!

Dun-dun-duuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!

And She's Off!

July, August & September are to be spent with my sister at her house.

You'll recall, she made her 4 bedroom home a 4 bedroom home again to accommodate mom ;) ;) wink wink.

So today I packed up her stuff and we each drove our respective cars down to my sister's.

NOTE: This is not all of mom's stuff, just the beginning of it!

Of course, not all that she brought is staying at her house... she has a pile for the storage unit and took what mom can keep up to her room.

I have to laugh... it's not worth getting upset about.

I stayed for about an hour going over meds and chatting.... speaking of meds, mom still need TLC when it comes to taking her meds... it matters not how much 'reminding' you do, if you don't make sure she takes it, she gets distracted and forgets to take it.  This week alone, she forgot to take her Tuesday morning meds, her Thursday evening meds and her Friday evening meds...eeeeee gash!  It can drive one batty!!!

Oh and it will drive my sister and her hubby nuts...

I wished them luck and fun and left so I could get a few errands done this afternoon.

While I won't get mom back until April, if all works as planned, I will be working on the room I am readying for her and the other room too.

Ah, the next chapter... turn the page already will ya?

Anyone have any ideas on how mom will handle this transition?  How did your parent handle transisiton from one home to the next?

Q2 2014 Is Over... Moving Day Must Be On The Horizon!

Mom's been with me for May and June.  According to our plans, she's to move along to her new abode... 

Next up is my sister's place.  You know, the sister that said mom better not change her mind about staying with her if she was going to the trouble of making her 4 bedroom home a 4 bedroom home... yeah, that one... actually she's my ONLY sister... and I thank God they broke the mold when she was born!

It will be interesting to see how sweet, timid Terry deals with mom as a part of her household.  

I'll bring mom down on the 4th of July and move her down there over the weekend.

In the meantime, I am still working to prepare the one room for her as a bedroom and will begin on the other one as a TV room/bedroom/office/catch all type of room when I get her bedroom finished.

We're still trying to get her house on the market... we did have a company come and haul tons of stuff away... one complete moving truck filled to the gills and a dumpster overflowing...

There remains a bit more for us to go through to make the house empty... and we'll begin on getting what needs painting done and get that bad baby on the market and off mom's plate.

Any advise from someone who has gone through this process?  Always welcomed.
